May 2026 Restricted Calling Dates

If your team handles outbound calls or text marketing, staying compliant with holiday calling restrictions is essential. DNC has just released the 2026 May Restricted Do Not Call Dates, and understanding them now can prevent major compliance headaches later.

Key U.S. Restricted Date

May 4, 2026 – Rhode Island Independence Day
Calling is restricted in Rhode Island.

May 25, 2026 – National Memorial Day
Calling is restricted in Alabama, Louisiana*, Nebraska**, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah.

*The Louisiana Governor must officially proclaim Christmas Eve and New Years Eve as a state holiday.
**Nebraska does not prohibit calls on Sundays or legal holidays; however, it does restrict the use of prerecorded messages to 1pm to 9pm on these days (subject to certain exceptions).

Why This Matters

Avoid costly violations: Non-compliance with Do Not Call rules—especially on restricted dates—can lead to significant penalties at both the state and federal levels.

Complex regulatory landscape: Federal TCPA rules may extend exemptions like Established Business Relationships (EBR), but state-specific holidays often introduce stricter restrictions.

Call strategy planning: Knowing short windows or full blackout days helps your team optimize call schedules and maintain trust.
